Richard Mkandawire is the Africa Director of the MSU supported Alliance for African Partnership Secretariat with decades of development experience as a socio-economist and rural development expert. Previously Mkandawire was Vice President of the African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP).
Mkandawire was at the helm of the leadership that drove the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP), an innovative framework for agricultural transformation established by African Heads of State and Government. Also, Mkandawire was for three years recognised and appointed as Extra-Ordinary Professor by the University of Pretoria for his work in driving Agriculture transformation in Africa.
He is a graduate of the University of Malawi (Bachelor of Social Science), University of Missouri, Columbia USA (MA and MSc.), and the University of East Anglia, UK (PhD). Prof. Mkandawire has previously taught in the Universities of Malawi, Zambia, and in South Africa.
